The last few days have honestly been emotional for us.

We sat down and read every single comment, message and review from our 3 year anniversary postā€¦ and some of them genuinely stopped us for a moment ā¤ļø

People spoke about driving over an hour just for breakfast. About bringing family and friends here on weekends. About stopping here every public holiday because they know the lights will be on and the coffee will be ready. So many people mentioned our sourdough bread, croissants, the atmosphere, the staffā€¦ but more than anything, people spoke about feeling connected to this little cafĆ©.

Thatā€™s the part that hit us the hardest.

For a cafe in a small mountain villageā€¦ that means everything to us.

Thank you for every coffee, every kind word, every early morning visit and every bit of support over these 3 years. Truly ā¤ļø

Three years ago, people told us this location was difficult.
Some said cafĆ©s here donā€™t last.
Some said Kurrajong was too quiet.
Some said making everything fresh, in house, every single day would never work.

Today, 50three turns 3.

Three years of learning that a cafe is never just coffee and food, itā€™s people.

Also three years of
ā€œTable for 2 pleaseā€ somehow turning into 7 people and 3 prams.

We watched strangers become regulars.
Regulars become friends.
And this little cafe slowly became part of the community.

There were stressful days, exhausting days, moments where we questioned everythingā€¦ and then there were mornings where the mountains were glowing, the cabinet was full, the cafe was buzzing, and somehow it all felt worth it.

And somewhere along the way we also learnt:
One croissant per person is apparently a fictional concept.

One thing weā€™re proud of though, whether itā€™s Easter weekend, a long weekend, storms, floods closing the bridge, power outages, or a freezing ANZAC Day morningā€¦ if you needed a coffee in Kurrajong, you knew where to find one.

The lights stayed on whenever they could.
The ovens kept running.
And we kept showing up.

7 days a week.
Same early start.
Same commitment to this community.

To every single person who supported us, believed in us, drove up the mountain, waited for a table, shared a post, brought a friend, or simply made 50three part of their routineā€¦

Last night, our local Hawkesbury community was shaken by a tragic house fire at Bowen Mountain.

Our thoughts are with the family, especially during such an unimaginable loss. We also keep the siblings, their father, and everyone affected in our prayers.

To the firefighters, emergency services, and first responders who worked through the night under such difficult conditions, thank you for your courage and efforts.

Kurrajong and the surrounding community have always stood together in times like this. If thereā€™s any way we can support, as a cafĆ© and as a community, we will be here.

For those using public transport, you can take the train or bus and get off at the Central station. From there, take bus number 343 towards Kingsford and alight at Anzac Parade near Todman Avenue. Walk along Anzac Parade until you reach the first intersection with a traffic light. Turn left onto that street and walk straight for about 5 minutes until you see a dessert shop/restaurant.

If driving, head east on Anzac Parade towards Kingsford until you see the intersection with Todman Avenue. Turn left onto Todman Avenue and park in any available street parking nearby. Walk back to Anzac Parade and turn left. The dessert shop/restaurant should be on your right after about 5 minutes of walking.
