My greatest achievement by far is being a dad. I’m truly blessed. Happy Father’s Day to all dads today, with us and the ones we miss and can’t be with today.

This time of year is always close to my heart, this time 24 years ago my late father made the decision to buy his local pizza shop, more importantly my dad put his hand up for the upcoming Sydney Olympics as a volunteer driver. This I’m sure apart from the birth of his children was 100% the highlight of his life. He was in his absolute element, for 16 days my dad drove VIP delegates and nations leaders from all across the globe from olympic events and functions, with his big smile and his knowledge of Sydney ( his early days as a taxi driver came in handy ) making friends from across the world and with many fellow volunteers. I remember like it was yesterday, he came home from a long day of volunteering and he just looked at me and said, today I drove the princes of Norway to the equestrian. She gave me her countries pin. That to him was just out of this world. He said who would have thought, a boy that came to this country in the early 60’s who couldn’t speak a word of English was now driving royalty around Sydney like he was born here. That sums up my dad to the T. Mind you he spend 8 hours volunteering at the Olympics then did a 6 hour shift at the pizza shop at night and not once did he ever complain. The Olympic Games brings out the best in athletes and the best of the best rise to the top. Champions are crowned and hero’s are made. In my eyes my dad is the greatest Olympian of all time, his hard work, dedication and loyalty won gold in many people’s hearts throughout his life, and to me my dad will always be my hero, and HEROES LIVE FOREVER. Love you Dad
