Cocina del Barrio

Cocina del Barrio Cocina del Barrio was an intimate Spanish Tapas Bar & Restaurant located on King Street in Newtown. Known for its delicious tapas, cocktails, and live music, it was a popular spot for locals and visitors alike. The restaurant offered a full license and provided a cozy atmosphere for patrons to enjoy their meals and drinks.

Over the years, Cocina del Barrio had various promotions and events to attract customers. They hosted live music open mic nights and offered special deals like pasta and paella nights, where guests could enjoy a plate of pasta or paella along with a house drink for $20. Additionally, they had recurring monthly events such as All You Can Eat Paella Wednesdays and Margarita Monday.

However, in November 2023, Cocina del Barrio made the unfortunate announcement on social media that they would be closing their doors at the end of the month. They expressed gratitude to their loyal customers for their patronage throughout the years.

Please note that Cocina del Barrio has been permanently closed.

Stay tuned as, apart from the Piggs Peake Tasting Tuesday Trivia Nights the only future events beyond August at this stage include a Rioja Wine Journey in September with a Rioja Wine Festival Wine Tasting and Spanish day Wine Tasting Events. There may be a Peterson’s Wine tasting Degustation Dinner in September as one of the last wine events of the year.

STOP PRESS!!!
Sadly, Cocina del Barrio will be closing at the end of November. So, if you’ve always been meaning to try one of our events or come back and have some delicious Spanish Food, there is a limited amount of time left.
We are looking at another venue but will served mixed fare including some Spanish dishes. We are also looking into doing some local weekend markets selling paella balls, croquetas and of all things cookies and biscuits. Our contact number will remain the same and we still offer our catering services.
