What an incredible evening.

Your favourite barista .ppp was proud to present two pieces of his art as a surprise gift to guest speakers and ex ambassador Shingo Yamagami at the incredible offices of Johnson Winter Slattery.

Also, we were so proud to offer alll attendees a small token gift of individualised name cards to celebrate the event and Hiroki’s talent.

With special thanks to a true gentleman and wonderful emcee and the incredible crew catering and delivering a true fusion of tastes and styles that has encouraged me to push our Japanon dream to new heights. Staff, ingredients, matched alcohol - all a stunning showcase of the best Australia has to offer particularly when we adapt and fuse cultures together.

Not enough positive adjectives to describe the ‘Australia and Japan continuing to build closer ties’ dinner or the pride we have with our Hiroki and .gekkai name and reputation being rewarded and celebrated alongside this event.

Our little dream became an adult last night 🤟🙌🙏😈😇🇯🇵🇱🇧

Hi Everyone

Hoping you are all well.

Just as a quick notification from us.

You’re favourite manager/barista Hiroki won a first place prize and title for his artwork displayed currently at The National Art Center in Tokyo

His piece technically is sort of an “Ode to Alcohol” so I’m absolutely certain it’s dedicated to me 😈😂😍

We are so so proud of you Hiroki.

Now to try display it at Cafe Japanon Ultimo 😳🙏🙌

Hi All

It is with tremendous sadness and a whole heap of melancholy that we announce the sale of Cafe Japanon Waterloo.

After 4 years of joy, struggle, frustration, exhilaration and lots of love; we have had to make the call to focus on both expanding the business overseas in Japan and settling things down without other ventures. Our last day will be May 31st 2025.

To the incredible .gekkai - the enduring success, reputation and legacy of Japanon Waterloo would be NIL if it wasn't for your hard work, dedication and commitment to our customers and locals who grew to rely on you, us and our little home in Waterloo. Thankyou for sticking with me, us and our little home away from home.

4 Years. 4 Nominations for the Cafe of the Year. Zero divorce. That's a win for sure :)

To the incredible visionary team at - congratulations and well done on being the successful bidders for this incredible opportunity. Make it your own and take care of our community as they will you. You are both so lovely and your passion will no doubt ensure enduring success. Rudons and Bagus - its over to you to make this space spectacular.

Finally, to you all. Thankyou. Thankyou again. We hope to serve you one day in Ultimo, Tokyo or even Beirut.

Always,

Marcel, Hiroki and the Team at Cafe Japanon

To get to Raglan Street in Sydney by public transport, you can take a train or bus to Central Station and then transfer to the Sydney Trains T4 Eastern Suburbs and Illawarra Line. Get off at Edgecliff Station, which is the closest station to Raglan Street, and walk for about 10-15 minutes.

If you prefer to drive, take William St/State Route 23 toward Kings Cross. Turn left onto Bayswater Rd and continue straight until you reach New South Head Rd. Take a left onto New South Head Rd and turn right onto Ocean Ave. Finally, turn left onto Raglan St.

There is limited street parking available near Raglan Street, so it might be easier to park at the Eastpoint Food Fair Car Park on New McLean Street (off New South Head Road) and walk from there. Alternatively, you can use one of the paid parking lots located within walking distance such as Edgecliff Centre Car Park or Care Park on Ocean Avenue.

What people say

Cafe Japanon, located on Raglan Street in Sydney, is a delightful Japanese-Lebanese coffee shop and restaurant that offers a unique blend of flavors. The owners, Hiroki and Marcel, are warm and welcoming hosts who make you feel right at home. Despite facing some challenges earlier this year due to personal circumstances, they have bounced back stronger than ever.

One of the things that sets Cafe Japanon apart is their commitment to community engagement. They recently partnered with the Waterloo Integrated Metro Development (WIMD) site for a "Community Drop In Session" where customers could ask questions about the project while enjoying complimentary coffee and mince pies. This shows their dedication to building relationships with their customers beyond just serving food and drinks.

Speaking of food and drinks, Cafe Japanon's menu is a feast for the senses. From sushi rolls to falafel wraps, there's something for everyone. Their coffee is also top-notch, with expertly crafted lattes and cappuccinos that will satisfy even the most discerning caffeine connoisseur.

Overall, Cafe Japanon is a must-visit spot in Sydney for anyone looking for delicious food, great coffee, and friendly service in a cozy atmosphere.
