Hi Folks ,

As for the restaurant… it’s been a comparatively quiet week so far but ‘Dine In’ reservations are looking good so it looks like I’ll get a chance to chat to some customers at least ( without interrupting them too much I hope ) 😱.

Hello there,
We do hope you’ve had a great time this week and that you got to enjoy a lovely Mother’s Day weekend , last weekend . For us at the restaurant it was a very busy time and we sincerely hope that for those of you that chose to ‘dine in’ or order a ‘take away’ meal that you enjoyed our food. As I just mentioned it was really a hectic time , particularly on the Sunday and we Thank You All for placing your meal requirements with us and for the patience that some of you needed before receiving your order. 👏👏👏
Admittedly, with some bias, I’m going to say now that I admire the effort that the people in the kitchen and in our front of house have to put in on ‘Special Occasion’ services. From the time we ‘Open’ to the Close of taking orders they literally do not stop for a moments break .
It’s an exhausting cooking and service time.
And so ,we therefore have to give a BIG Shout Out to YOU our incredible customers for your support and for the encouragement you bestow upon us continually. It is truely humbling and appreciated , particularly during these challenging times that many businesses are experiencing.
This is our “Class of ‘26 “ that we’ve put together and I ,for one think they are an incredible mob , but then as I said , I’m bias.

Ok , so I’m going to ask the question ..
Where’s the TIME gone ?
It’s MAY already !!! 😱
It seems like only a few weeks ago I was taking the Chrissy decorations down.
We’ve had , Australia Day ; the Easter break and all that happens during that celebration ; School holidays ; Easter Show and just last weekend it was Anzac weekend. So much gone on ….
And now : MOTHER’S DAY weekend is approaching VERY SOON.. We say ‘Weekend’ because over the past years at Formosa we’ve seen the trend develop that this wonderful celebration of our Mums isn’t reserved for just Sunday 10th. It’s spread now over the three evenings of the weekend.
Because of this spread we will ONLY be offering an EVENING service on the Sunday .
( Dine In / Take Away & Delivery)
Dine In reservations have already been made for the Sunday and so if your plan could be to
Dine In at our little restaurant we’d suggest making a booking ASAP.

Hi Folks,
This weekend on Saturday we are able to share in the Remembrance of our Service People of the Past and take the opportunity to Thank those who Currently serve to preserve the safety and peace in this beautiful homeland of ours..
We would like to particularly pay a tribute to those gallant boys who served in WW1 who gave their all and did not return. They are many amongst many more who have given their lives in other war times.
We are reminded by the following :

Hi Folks,
Lovin’ this weather , aren’t you !!
The solar panels at home are soaking up the sun ( free power 💕) and the batteries are full …
As are we at the restaurant. With our personal batteries fully charged we’re ready to meet the orders from returning families after the Easter break away. Schools are back next week and we’ve noticed the Barbers in our little shopping hub are busy with schoolies getting their ‘return’ haircuts. Always a sign of people coming back to the Currans Hill area.

Hi Folks,
We hope everyone had an enjoyable Easter with perhaps some of you out and about at a park ; at the coast or maybe the Easter Show. Anyway with this celebratory holiday now past we can look forward to the next yearly event with our Anzac Day which is fast approaching .
Celebrations were abounding still with one of our ‘regulars’ ( Troy & Family ) in the restaurant last evening celebrating ‘The Twins’ birthday .
Many Congrats to to Betty and Lucy on what was you ‘Special Day’. We hope you enjoyed your evening at Formosa.

Well , I’m starting to think that Covid really wasn’t that bad !! 😱
You know there was Donald telling everyone to inject themselves with bleach to get over things and now perhaps he’ll suggest trying to do it with petrol ..
Oh no , hang on , we haven’t got any 🤣😂🤣
I jest of course …. hopefully you all have been able to get some and are still getting around OK.
We do feel terribly sorry for some folks in rural areas though that have had real problems and particularly our farmers who rely on diesel supplies arriving.
Let’s All hope that this awful war ends sooner rather than later for everyone’s sake.🙏

Formosa will be CLOSED on FRIDAY 3rd April and will NOT RE-OPEN until Easter TUESDAY 7th

There are certain sayings that reflect on our situations from time to time ..

Then I got a bit depressed after reading updates about this ridiculous Middle Eastern war and it’s consequences. Petrol price increases slugging our pockets ; Supermarkets warning of produce cost increases and then the prospect of our household Energy bills going up. Tie all this in with likely mortgage interest rates rising and we’ve almost got the Cost of Living ‘perfect storm’ scenario .

We hope you all had a good week just past and are looking forward to an enjoyable weekend . Certainly the weather today looks really nice but apparently there might be a few showers coming tomorrow ,so maybe plan around the rain….

As for ourselves at the restaurant we are experiencing some hold ups in supply ( not sure if this new war is the cause) …
Petrol was up the next day and there’s me thinking we had more than one day’s supply in Australia !!! 😱

Hello Folks ,
Well after the upheaval and “fun” of last Saturday’s flooding in the restaurant we are almost back to normal. There’s some damage to the dining room ceiling but so long as you don’t look up …. It’s fine 🤣
So , ‘Dining in’ is “all systems go “ and so is ‘Take Away’ of course , however we do have a challenge with carrying our deliveries as our driver , Carol is unavailable for a while . I will do my best to make as many deliveries as I can over the weekend , but just bear in mind the service is compromised as I’m also needed in the Shop.
Anyone know a responsible someone who’d like to make a few dollars delivering for us for a couple or so weeks ??

Morning Folks….
Unfortunately as a consequence of last evenings weather the centre’s roof failed and the restaurant was flooded with rain coming in through the ceiling from the upper floor .
Firstly , we need to apologise for the inconvenience caused to our ‘diners’ ..
So sorry if it was awkward or uncomfortable.and hopefully at least the food was still enjoyable even if the atmosphere was somewhat compromised .In all of it we did manage a laugh or two ( what else could we do but try to lighten the mood.)
Secondly , we’re going to be CLOSED this evening as at present we’ve lost power and lighting and there’s a lot of clearing up needed.
Hopefully we will be able to run at least a Take Away service next week but I’ll update the development of the situation as it unfolds

Hello Everybody ,
Just in case some of you might have missed our last Tuesday posting :
WE’RE BACK !!
After a Three Week closure for our annual breakaway we’ve re-opened and so far it’s been a ….REALLY BUSY few days at the restaurant.
We’re fully charged up and raring to go full steam ahead and therefore, we look forward to the opportunity of being able to serve up our food for you to hopefully enjoy .
One thing that’s a bit of a challenge this weekend is that we do not have a delivery driver available . Deliveries as a consequence may be restricted. We appreciate your understanding on this situation.
So that’s it then !
That’s all for now …. Next thing on the year’s agenda is Australia Day , I guess .

The lucky draw for the WINNER of our Colouring In Competition for ‘Diners in’ was made over the weekend . Mark was in the Kitchen and drew out he says “ the neatest folded entry “( go figure )??
