Nine years ago, Rabin moved to Sydney to study for his Masters in IT. To support himself, he picked up a job at a fish and chip shop (his brother already worked there and showed him the ropes). Two and a half years of frying later, he’d caught the cooking bug. He did land a job in IT after graduating, but he couldn’t stop thinking about the kitchen, so he left to chase the dream.
He started as a kitchen hand at 3 Blue Ducks, studied to become a chef alongside working, and climbed the ranks until Blackwood Bondi opened its doors and he joined us. Now he’s our Sous Chef.
What he loves most is the team. He’s all about building and training people and keeping a kitchen where everyone gets on, front and back of house. He’s a favourite with all of us!
Rabin’s order: a latte with 1 sugar, and the Ahi Poke Bowl is his go-to dish. Off the clock he’s either gaming or exploring Australia, with Darwin next on the list.
His plan? Soak up everything he can from Rob and Calvin so that one day he can open his own place. He loves to learn, and we love him. 💚

The street party kicks off at 11 am, and we’ve got Blackwood favourites, takeaway deals and Spritz Sundowners waiting for you from the afternoon.
