A Thank You to the Pyrmont Community and Beyond
To the wonderful people of Pyrmont, to everyone across Sydney, Australia, New Zealand, and to every single person who has walked through the doors of my restaurants over the past 20 years—thank you.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for supporting me as an immigrant who came to Australia with a dream. Thank you for supporting my family, believing in me, and embracing my passion for sharing authentic Persian cuisine.
Many of you first came to know me through Persian Room Restaurant, and later through Rumilicious. Together, these restaurants allowed me to share the flavours, traditions, and hospitality of one of the world’s oldest civilizations, with more than 5,000 years of history.
When I first opened, very few people in Pyrmont had ever experienced authentic Persian cuisine. I remember introducing myself to the community, explaining our spices, our traditions, and inviting people to try something completely different. You embraced it with open hearts, and I will always be grateful.
You didn’t just become customers—you became friends, neighbours, and part of my extended family.
The journey was not always easy. We faced many challenges, especially during COVID-19. Like so many small businesses, we struggled, but because of your incredible support, your loyalty, and your kindness, we kept our doors open. Even when we faced staff shortages and employed people who were still learning English, you showed patience, understanding, and compassion. I will never forget that.
I also want to thank those who gave us honest feedback. Whether you praised our food or shared your concerns, every comment helped us improve. Your compliments encouraged us, and your constructive criticism made us better. I truly appreciate every single person who walked through our doors.
After 20 wonderful years with Rumilicious, the time has come for me to hand over something I have loved with all my heart. Rumilicious will become a new business, with a new name, a new menu, and a new generation of passionate owners. I sincerely hope you will support them with the same kindness and generosity that you showed me.
Although the restaurant is changing, I am not saying goodbye to Pyrmont.
I have proudly been part of this beautiful community for 34 years. I have lived here, worked here, and built businesses here and in Darling Harbour. Pyrmont will always be my home.
You will still see me walking around the neighbourhood, catching up with friends, supporting local events, and hopefully becoming even more involved in charities and community activities. My journey in Pyrmont is far from over—it is simply entering a new chapter.
To everyone who supported Persian Room Restaurant and Rumilicious, thank you for sharing this incredible journey with me.
