Our Beef Pares Toastie brings a slice of comfort to our Taguán, inspired by a classic we grew up with. In the Philippines, Beef Pares is the go-to dish when you’re craving something rich, savory, and full of warmth – often found at street-side stalls where people gather over bowls of tender beef, slowly simmered in soy and oyster sauce, with a side of garlic rice and broth.
We’ve taken this comfort classic and given it our personal take, layering our slow-cooked beef with a hint of chili spread and cheese, topped with crispy fried garlic, all nestled between slices of sourdough bread.
It’s the taste of home, reimagined for our cafe, and it’s our way of sharing a little piece of Filipino culture, one bite at a time.

Here’s to discovering little hideaways that invite us to pause, breathe, and appreciate the beauty around us. ☕️

Did you know that our All-Day Brekkie Burger features a drizzle of banana ketchup, a beloved Filipino condiment with a fascinating history? Born during World War II out of a necessity due to tomato shortages, a Filipino scientist named Maria Orosa formulated this vibrant sauce using mashed bananas, vinegar, and spices. The result is a unique blend that balances sweetness and tanginess—offering a flavor profile that’s both familiar and distinct from traditional tomato ketchup.
Now, let’s talk about what makes our burger so special: comes in a soft brioche bun, you’ll find double bacon, double sunny side eggs, Swiss cheese, and fresh mesclun, all brought together with that delightful banana ketchup. Come indulge in a delicious bite of history with us!

Introducing the Croque Mamser - our fun take on the classic French Croque Madam and Monsieur, but make it Filo! By blending cultures in the most delicious way - it is also our little homage to the lovely French and Aussie couple who used to operate in the cafe we are now working in. 🫶🏼
Picture this - buttered sourdough bread slathered with our Tatay’s Adobo sauce, stuffed with double smoked ham, fresh tomatoes, and creamy Swiss cheese. Don’t forget that beautiful egg and Parmesan cheese on top. It ain’t just a toastie; it’s a celebration of flavors and stories.
We are adding more items to the menu, swing by and give Mamser a try here at our Taguán. ☕️

If you were to ask a Filipino about their favorite dishes, adobo would likely in the list, but every household has its own unique twist. Some families add star anise, others stir in coconut milk, and some crank up the heat with plenty of chilis.
At Taguan, we’ve drawn inspiration from Vinny’s late father - Vachel’s beloved adobo recipe. This soy-vinegar dish is marinated and twice-cooked to perfection, creating a rich, flavorful experience that truly honors our heritage.
We celebrate our culture and our fathers with every bite, and we can’t wait to share it with you. Tatay’s Adobo is now available for lunch, served with fragrant garlic rice and a side of tangy atchara(pickled papaya).

While we’re still finalizing our menu, we invite you to drop by and enjoy our delicious toasties alongside specialty coffee roasted by . And let’s be honest—there’s nothing quite like sipping coffee from a ceramic cup.
Since we can’t bring our beloved dog, , to Australia just yet, we decided to collaborate with one of our favorite Filipino artists, , to create the perfect mugs for Taguan Sydney. Bijin’s Fugly series particularly resonates with us, as it celebrates the beauty of imperfections—a sentiment we hold dear.
As we share a cup of coffee in our Taguan, we’re excited for you to sip from our Fugly Yakult mugs, available in espresso, regular, and medium sizes. This way, we’re not just serving coffee; we’re sharing a piece of our cherished Yakult with you, just like he brought joy to our guests in Baguio. Together, let’s embrace the warmth of community and the hope for a better tomorrow, one cup at a time.

It’s hard to believe that it’s been months since we took over Redfern’s beloved Deli 14. This journey has been nothing short of amazing.
From the moment we stepped into the neighborhood of Redfern, we were filled with a mix of excitement and anxiety. How would the community embrace us, especially after the beautiful couple who previously owned the cafe? To our relief, we were greeted with warm smiles and laughter that wrapped around us like a comforting embrace. We are incredibly grateful for the kindness we’ve received and the connections we’ve made along the way. While there have certainly been ups and downs—stories for another day—we’ve cherished every moment.
Today marks a significant transition as we move forward with our dreams. We are thrilled to announce that Deli 14 will be evolving into Taguan Cafe, which means “hideaway.” This new chapter is all about creating a safe space for all of us to grow, enjoy great food, and have incredible coffee together. Over the next few days, we’ll be sharing pieces of ourselves through our stories and the delicious offerings we have in store for this wonderful city.
Thank you for all the love and support we received as Deli 14. We can’t wait to welcome you our Taguan and share this exciting journey with you!
