Club Five Dock RSL is proud to congratulate Mrs Joyce Duncan OAM on becoming the first female Life Member in the clubβs history.
Joyce has been a dedicated contributor to both the club and the wider community for decades. A founding member and Founding Secretary of the Five Dock RSL Orchid Society in 1967, Joyceβs commitment to service has touched countless lives through her work with Legacy, local hospitals, and community organisations.
A former President of the Western Suburbs Legacy Widows Branch, Joyce continues to support families of veterans with compassion and dedication. Her volunteer work extends across numerous organisations including the Balmain Hospital Auxiliary, the Childrenβs Hospitals at Westmead and formerly Camperdown, Bear Cottage, and the Balmain Inner Wheel Club.
Joyce was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in recognition of her outstanding service to the community as a volunteer and fundraiser. As Honorary Secretary of the Balmain Hospital Auxiliary for more than 30 years, she played a significant role in raising over $500,000 for vital medical equipment.
This Life Membership recognises Joyceβs extraordinary contribution, leadership, and unwavering commitment to helping others over more than 70 years of community service. Club Five Dock RSL is honoured to celebrate Joyce and thank her for the lasting impact she has made on our club and community.
β’ Mr Robert Ridge β’
Club Five Dock RSL is proud to announce the awarding of Life Membership to Mr Robert Ridge in recognition of his outstanding service and leadership.
Robert has served on the clubβs Board for more than 20 years, including 13 years as Club President. During this time, his leadership has been characterised by a strong commitment to the clubβs vision of being a venue that adds value to our community by being sustainable and socially responsible, while maintaining a strong focus on the wellbeing of members.
Throughout his tenure, Robert has strengthened engagement across all areas of the club, building meaningful relationships with members, sub-clubs, and the broader community. His leadership and dedication have played an important role in shaping the clubβs continued growth and strong community presence.
Robert has also made significant contributions beyond the club through his liaison work with local government and community groups, both formally and informally, advocating for initiatives that benefit not only club members but the wider community.
A former member of the Royal Australian Navy, Robert continues his service to the community through his support of veterans and ex-service personnel as President of the Five Dock RSL Sub-Branch, a position he has held for the past 14 years.
This Life Membership recognises Robertβs exceptional contribution, leadership, and unwavering dedication to Club Five Dock RSL and the wider community over many years of service.
