Bad Mama is a unique cocktail, tapas bar and restaurant located on Crown Street. The restaurant was founded by Mamasan Gemma Lin, who was born in a remote fishing village in Yehliu Taiwan and grew up in Japan. The food reflects the vibrancy of a Taiwanese Night Street Market meets Japan on the set of Bladerunner in a 1920's Shanghai kinda way. Guests can also enjoy live music several nights a week at their new Basement Bar "Bad Mama's Dungeon".

Good times happen at Bad Mama.

Bad Mama is a multi-level Japanese & Taiwanese inspired bar & diner that celebrates the art of conversation, drinking & eating in the heart of Surry Hills.

The food is inspired by owner Gemma Lin’s childhood spent in a remote Taiwanese fishing village & Japan. The chef has created a punchy pan-Asian menu where you’ll find puffy tempura popcorn fish served with a tongue-numbing green pepper chilli oil, dumplings which come two ways depending on your preference – steamed or in a spicy chilli & Sichuan broth & edamame dressed in garlic and pepper.

The chef recommends duck pancakes, the pork belly steak or the fish on fire – spicy marinated salmon fillet baked and flamed!

There’s plenty to drink too, with Sapporo on tap, a hefty list of sakes, premium Asian whiskies, cocktails (or social lubricants as they are listed on the menu) and wines – all this, and there’s LIVE blues on Tuesday’s!

Bad Mama loves to have fun, every night of the week so keep your eyes peeled for upcoming events.
