Wait, we know what you’re thinking. “What’s a Calcutta?” Great question. It’s a classic Aussie sweepstake, with a twist.

Buy a $5 ticket (as many as you’d like). On the day, we draw the Cup field. 24 lucky ticket holders each get a slot. Those slots go to auction, where you can either keep your horse or sell to the highest bidder (pocketing half, with the rest going into the pool).

Then we wait for the race that stops the nation. Whoever holds the winning horses take the pool. Simples.
