It is with mixed emotions that we announce the closure of Yachiyo Japanese Bistro Mosman on October 8th. Over the 10 years, we’ve shared countless memories, from the joy of sunny afternoons at our beautifully renovated outdoor seating to the challenges we’ve faced along the way. We’ve experienced not only moments of triumph but also difficult times, including the rising cost of ingredients like salmon, which doubled from $12 per kilogram when we first opened. There were also challenges, such as when a chef we trusted to manage our franchise opened a competing restaurant nearby. Despite these hardships, we are grateful to have been able to serve our beloved Mosman community with fresh, handmade Japanese food at an affordable price.
Through the trials of the pandemic, we were overwhelmed by the incredible support of our customers, and during this period of inflation, our team worked tirelessly to maintain our standards. I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to all the chefs who worked from morning until night and to the staff who embodied one of my favorite sayings: “Serving others and bringing joy to people is the ultimate luxury “, a philosophy shared by the founder of CoCo Ichibanya, who built 1,200 restaurants around this very principle. With the strength of our company, Kaisen, they continued to deliver this message, keeping our prices low and putting customers first like true samurai.
I deeply appreciate not only the efforts of our staff but also the kindness of our customers, who always offered words of encouragement. Although Yachiyo Japanese Bistro Mosman will be closing its doors, we remain committed to our mission of delivering affordable, delicious Japanese food to the world, always with the spirit of service at the heart of what we do.
To the Mosman community, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. And to those customers we were unable to say goodbye to personally, or who may have experienced inconvenience during this transition, we sincerely apologize and ask for your understanding.
