Cafe Hernandez is a hidden gem located on Kings Cross Road in Darlinghurst. This family-owned Spanish cafe has been serving up delicious coffee and authentic Spanish treats since 1972. The cafe's artistic and homey ambiance welcomes all customers to enjoy specialty coffee blends and unique Spanish food.
What sets Cafe Hernandez apart from other cafes is their commitment to roasting their own coffee beans on-site, ensuring the highest quality and freshness possible. Joaquin Hernandez Senior designed the blends and continues to come to the cafe most days to help roast the coffee beans himself. Using only the best quality Arabica beans, he roasts single origins to various degrees to arrive at the most favourable outcome.
In addition to fantastic coffee, Cafe Hernandez also offers an array of authentic Spanish treats such as Sobresado (Spanish spread), Jamon Serrano (Hams), Chorizo (Sausage), Arroz con Leche (Rice Pudding), and Churros. For those looking for something refreshing, try their Horchata, a cool, sweet, traditional Spanish drink made from the root of the chuffa plant that tastes like almond milk.
Overall, Cafe Hernandez is a must-visit for anyone looking for a unique and authentic Spanish experience in Sydney. With its friendly staff, cozy atmosphere, and delicious offerings, it's no wonder this cafe has been around for almost 50 years!
