While we were busy at the kitchen, figuring out what to feed , the production crew .dp.evilgenius brought the magic to life. The set-up was insane!
Bonding over adobo, sisig and silogs, Happy shared insights about her play "Savior".Personally witnessing her theatre career thrive here in Sydney is incredibly inspiring. We cannot wait to see her masterpiece at Belvoir St Theatre! 🎭 The show runs from May 16 to June 14.

When a place this enchanting, we'll be more than happy to make the trip!
We got lucky that the venue was setting up for an upcoming weekend wedding so we got to see a sneak peek on what the arrangement would most likely be on the event we are catering. Worth the trip!
But who are we kidding, the Southern Highland is always worth the trip no matter what the reason is. There is something magical in these mountains that even with the logistical challenge of bring hot food and an entire set-up of grazing table, we would not say No! And so we had to experience the drive and terrain to know what we are up against.
The next trip will be the real one.

Our first wedding reception of the year.
It was intimate, cozy, and filled with close family and friends. But honestly? We were low-key nervous!
The challenge: there wasn’t a single Filipino guest! The couple are both Singaporean—but they were excited and open to exploring Filipino flavours for their special day.
We had one mission: to make our traditional Filipino dishes hit the spot for Singaporean parents and grandparents flying in for the big day.
We served up our classics—Adobo, Lumpiang Togue, Chop Suey, and Fish Escabeche—alongside two Singaporean dishes we had just learned to cook a few days prior. We spent the whole night “crowd-watching,” and the relief was real when guests kept going back for seconds!
The Escabeche was the crowd favourite. Guests were even surprised we nailed the Singaporean flavours, saying, “But you’re a Filipino cafe!”
We ended the night with the biggest smiles. Filipino food is finally getting the love it deserves, and Descanso couldn't be more proud to be part of it.

We wanted to raise a cup to all of you who keeping us busy during this most challenging time our small business have experienced so far.
Cost of goods and operational expenses keep rising, and the demand for efficiency and productivity take a mental and physical toll on us. But whenever we see your familiar and excited faces coming to our cafe, catch up on hugs and kisses, private messages, and trust us to make your special occasion happen (big or small), make these economic challenges bearable. Every plates, trays, and food boxes you ask us to make is made with love and gratitude. Thank you for supporting us.
This Easter, we wanted to take time to count our blessings, prepare for new beginnings, and remind ourselves to let go, be still, and cast all our cares to Him.

Whenever we look back at the milestones of Descanso, wedding always comes to mind.
Back then, catering wasn't even part of our business plan. To be honest, we just didn't have the confidence. When the couple first asked us to cater their wedding ceremony and an even bigger wedding celebration, we gave them a flat "no." We were terrified of disappointing them because of our lack of experience. But our dear friend Josh simply told us, "ok lang yan, malayo pa naman. You’ve got time to get ready."
And just like that, our catering service was born—all because someone believed in us before we even believed in ourselves.
This photo was taken about three years ago at our old shop in Glebe on their wedding day. It was intimate with their closest friends. Since then, we’ve been part of several birthdays, engagement, a show, and baby showers. We still get those pre-event nerves (and the occasional panic attack!), but witnessing these big moments is so humbling. We are forever grateful for the trust you place in us.
