🙋🏻♂️ Today is R U OK? Day 💛
Although, if we’re doing it properly, asking “R U OK?” shouldn’t be saved for just one day of the year.
R U OK? was inspired by a deeply personal story. In 1995, Barry Larkin died by su***de, leaving his family and friends with enormous grief and unanswered questions. Years later, his son Gavin turned that pain into purpose, helping launch the R U OK? movement in 2009 with one powerful belief: a conversation can change a life.
And that’s something worth remembering.
👉🏻 You never really know what the person beside you is carrying. So whether it’s across the bar, at work, at home or online, just be a good human. A little respect, a genuine check-in and a bit of kindness cost absolutely nothing, but they can mean everything.
Here at The Parkview, we reckon a pub should be more than somewhere to grab a cold one 🍻 It should be somewhere you can walk through the doors, see a familiar face, have a yarn, share a laugh and feel like you’re part of the community.
So today, check in on your mates. Check in on your family. Check in on the quiet one. And if someone says they’re fine but your gut tells you otherwise, don’t be afraid to ask again.
“You sure, mate?” can be a pretty powerful sentence 💛
And if life feels heavier than you can handle alone, there’s always someone ready to listen:

Look after yourselves, look after your mates and choose kindness.
Good communities look out for each other.
Take care, legends. Spread the love. Pop in. Have a Cupcake. Or banana if you don’t have a sweet tooth 🫶
