Charlotte Badger became Australia’s first female pirate while being transported to Van Diemens land aboard the convict ship Venus.

When the captain stepped ashore at Port Dalrymple (George Town, Tasmania), Charlotte had her quiet mutiny and convinced the crew to mutiny and sail to New Zealand. Her final fate was never known.

Her bold actions inspired the creation of Quiet Mutiny wines from Tasmania, and tonight our good friend (and wine afficionado) Iain Sandler will be taking us through the range.

Book now via the link in our bio, or simply walk in!

One of our great locals, Darren, who you’ll find parked up with a Guinness, rain, hail or post-half-marathon - and our incredible runner-up in the Win a Trip to Ireland competition! 🇮🇪🍀

Always good for a chat, a laugh, or a spirited performance of Killeagh 🎶

We’re so appreciative of all our incredible locals who bring the Southend to life and make the pub feel like home. ❤️

Here’s to you, Darren! 🍻

🍷 THURSDAY 20TH AUG WINE TASTING 🍷

⏱️ 6:30pm - 7:30pm
📍 East Wing Wine Bar, Southend Hotel

Jamie Manson, head honcho at Claymore Wines, will be our very special guest this week as he runs us through their portfolio of extraordinarily fun wines, each named for one of Jamie’s favourite songs. You may have seen Birdhouse in My Soul, Blackbird, Bittersweet Symphony and London Calling in our shop.

But wait, there’s more! Come and find out what makes a winemaker tick - enjoying generous splashes of wine and cheese and connection with other wine-loving individuals.
