How do you pick the right finishes that will really elevate your venue?

Working for yourself vs working for others. Same drive, different responsibilities.
Thereās a lot more to running your own business than people realise.

Busy doesnāt mean profitable. Twenty years behind the bar, in the kitchen and on the floor, I know where venues leak money and how to fix it.

Every venue I help build teaches me something new about this industry. Thatās the part nobody tells you: the work shapes you just as much as you shape it.
Building something in Sydney hospitality? Letās talk.

Behind every great venue is a team that knows how to grow it. I sat down with my business developer to talk strategy, opportunities, and what it really takes to build a hospitality business that lasts.
So yes everyone needs a consultant and even the Guru has oneš

Behind every successful hospitality project is a process you donāt always see.
From planning and client approvals to the finer details, every stage plays a part in bringing a vision to life.

Jumped on a podcast and we went deep on Riyadh, coffee, and what real hospitality feels like when itās done right. Honestly, I was blown away. Not by the stage or the title, by the service, the welcome, the intention in every little detail.
It made me think hard about what we can lift from that energy and bring into the Aussie market without watering it down. Same productās everywhere, but the feeling isnāt.
Thatās what I want to build.

Locked in with a gun who shares that same love for hospitality. No distractions, just real talk. All about whatās happening in the game right now. I left that chat buzzing, more ideas, more clarity, and more respect for the craft. Thatās the power of one good conversation.

Strip it right back. Operators, open your eyes. Get into your business. Stop watching from the sidelines. Three things. First, know your numbers. Second, be on the floor.
Lead your team. Third, check your systems. If somethingās clunky, fix it. Thatās it. Less talk, more action.

When you let a little giveaway slide without a system, people notice. One comp turns into expectation, one freebie turns into a pattern. Before long, word gets out that youāre easy. Protect the brand and your margins. Put a clear boundary around comps, who approves, how itās logged, and why.
Consistency trains the customer.

get it done. Iām not a restaurant owner Iām the consultant who rolls up my sleeves and works alongside your team. Strategyās nice, but ex*****on is everything.
From concept to launch, I get in there, shoulder to shoulder, and help build what actually works.
If youāre ready to move, letās talk.

People see the finished venue. They donāt always see everything it took to get there.
The concept. The brand. The menu. The planning, problem-solving, operations and team behind it all.
As a hospitality consultant, I work with businesses from the first big idea through to the details that bring it to life helping turn a vision into something people can walk into, enjoy and come back to.
Thereās a lot more to hospitality than what happens on the floor. And thatās where the real work begins.
This is a look at what I do, the people I work alongside and the ideas weāre bringing to life.
Have a hospitality project in mind? Letās talk.

Iām not here to tell you what you want to hear. Iām here to help you build a business that actually WORKS.
Hospitality consulting isnāt about walking into your venue, pointing out a few problems, handing you a report and disappearing. Thatās not how we operate.
We get involved. We ask the hard questions. We challenge ideas.
We look at EVERYTHING, from your menu and pricing to your staff, systems, suppliers, customer experience and the little things you probably havenāt even thought about.
And most importantly?
WE HELP YOU EXECUTE.
Whether youāre starting with an empty shop and a big vision or youāve been operating for years and canāt figure out whatās holding you back, thatās where we come in.
Every business is different. Every problem has a solution. And sometimes, all you need is someone who can see what youāre too busy running the business to notice.
Iām not here to run your restaurant. Iām here to help you build a better one.
Thatās what The Hospitality Guru is all about.
Got a vision? Got a problem? Letās talk. š©

Stop chasing marketing as a fix. Nail your pricing, menu, service, and training first. Marketing brings them in. Only operations makes them stay. Build the machine before you turn on the spotlight.

Monday morning, and the work is already moving.
Thereās a whole lot happening behind the scenes as we bring this concept closer to opening day: refining the branding, building the menu, preparing food, working through operations and locking in the final details with the executive chef and restaurant manager.
Thatās the part of consulting I love. Itās not just having an idea and handing over a plan. Itās being there with the team, connecting the vision to the food, the service and the way the whole venue will run. Every detail needs to work together, so when the doors open, the team knows what theyāre doing and the guest feels the difference.
Monday sets the rhythm for the week ahead. We get aligned, work through what needs attention and keep the momentum going. Thereās a lot of thinking, testing, tasting, planning and teamwork behind every step you see in this reel.
Weāre getting closer to bringing this concept to life, day in and day out. Proud of the team and the progress so far. Canāt wait for you to see what weāre building.

I absolutely hate walking past a cafƩ or restaurants and seeing the doors closed for good.
Because behind every closed business was once a vision. Someone invested their money, time, energy and heart into creating something they truly believed in. There were late nights, early mornings, sacrifices and big dreams and unfortunately, sometimes people learn the hard way that passion alone isnāt always enough.
But it doesnāt have to end that way.
There are so many opportunities to improve a struggling business before giving up. Sometimes it takes a fresh set of eyes, better systems, stronger leadership, the right menu, tighter costs, improved service or simply understanding what isnāt working and why.
Thatās exactly why my team and I exist.
We donāt just help people take a vision and turn it into a venue. Weāre also here for everything that happens in between especially when you feel stuck, overwhelmed or unsure about what to do next.
You donāt have to keep guessing, and you donāt have to wait until the business reaches breaking point before asking for help.
If your cafĆ©, restaurant or hospitality business isnāt performing the way it should, let us come in, look at the bigger picture and help you understand what needs to change. Sometimes a few smart decisions at the right time can completely change the direction of a business.
If this sounds like where youāre at right now, reach out. Send us a DM or submit an enquiry and letās have an honest conversation about your business, what it needs and how we can help it operate better, become stronger and move forward.
Asking for help isnāt giving up it could be the decision that saves everything youāve worked so hard to build.

This is what happens behind the scenes. š
Walking the site with the team, going through the layouts, questioning every detail and making sure the operation will actually work not just look good.
Where will the team move?
How will the food flow?
What will the customer experience?
Does every section make sense during a busy service?
These are the conversations that turn an empty space into a successful hospitality concept.
Every detail matters. Every decision has a purpose. And this is the part I love being on site, working side by side with the team and bringing the vision to life.
This is hospitality consulting in action

Getting things right when building a concept is everything.
Itās not just about creating a logo, designing a menu or making the venue look good. Itās about bringing every single piece together so the business actually works.
Thatās why you need one team who can see the entire vision and carry it through from the first idea to opening day.
There is no other hospitality consultancy in Australia doing what we do at this level. You know why?
Because we donāt just talk about the vision. We bring it to reality.
From building the brand and developing the concept to menu engineering, suppliers, systems, operations, equipment, uniforms, packaging and every customer touchpoint we are involved in absolutely everything.
We donāt hand you a plan and walk away.
We help you recruit your team.
We help you train them.
We prepare your systems.
We refine the customer journey.
We make sure the venue is operationally ready.
And we stand beside you during launch so you can hit the ground running from day one.
Tell me another consultant who is going to care about the smallest details, help hire your staff, train your team and make sure the entire concept is ready to perform before those doors open.
No one.
Because for us, itās not just another venue. Itās your investment, your vision and your future.
We see the bigger picture, we focus on the finest details, and we bring it all together.
Thatās why we are The Hospitality Guru Group.
From vision to venue we make it happen.
