Sarson Bhapa Jhinga - prawns gently steamed in mustard with fennel and nigella, inspired by the home-style seafood dishes of Bengal.

It’s the kind of dish that fills the table with aroma before it even arrives. Bold mustard, soft spice, tender prawns and the slower, comforting flavours that have been part of Bengali cooking for generations.

A table layered with crisp, golden bites, warm tandoor dishes, soft breads and sweets to finish - this is how we’re doing Mother’s Day.

It starts with a G&T on arrival, with chai and coffee poured as plates are passed and favourites are shared. Add a 1.5-hour bottomless of Prosecco, Riesling and Shiraz, and it’s very easy to settle in for the afternoon.

Adraki Chops, the kind of dish that brings everyone a little closer to the table.

A staple on the menu since 2007, these cutlets are marinated with crushed garlic, ginger, raw papaya and paprika, then cooked in the clay oven for that signature char. Rich, familiar, and always worth ordering.

We are honoured to have been part of such a meaningful and heartfelt evening celebrating Aunty Beryl’s cookbook launch last week.

We’re incredibly proud to have our butter chicken recipe featured - thoughtfully adapted with native ingredients, and grounded in a shared respect for culture, tradition and storytelling.

Catering this evening is a true coming together of community, where food bridges cultures and generations. Across both lands, recipes are more than dishes. They carry history, identity and a sense of belonging.

Congratulations Aunty Beryl on this remarkable legacy - and thank you for including us in it.

The book is available to purchase via the link in our bio.
