Monday night here runs on two things: a steak and a set of tiles.
$20 rump or $25 sirloin from the Bistro from 5pm. Then the biggest Mahjong Monday we’ve had - 14 tables set up in the Bora Bar from 6.30, free to play, and first-timers get taught as they go.

Roast chicken from lunch. Dan Spillane playing the b**r garden 2 to 5pm.
Then Australia v Fiji in the Rugby League World Cup, 8pm, live and loud.
$16 spritzes and $10 Young Henrys pints the whole way through.
Come for the roast. The rest sort of happens around you.

Saturday’s got horses at lunch and a haka at one.
If Flemington’s not in your weekend plans, we have the Cox Plate on the screens from the first race.
There’s the All Blacks v France, 1pm, sound up - with no skin in it, which is the best way to watch a Test. The b**r garden’s open, kitchen going all afternoon.
Back a horse. Back whoever’s not the All Blacks. Stay for the afternoon.

Friday: snags at 4, Wallabies at 7.45.
Free BBQ from 4pm, happy hour 4 to 6, three meat trays drawn at 5. Then Wallabies v Scotland, live and loud on every screen from 7.45pm, which is roughly when the b**r garden moves inside.
Gold on. Book a table if you want to be sitting down for the anthem.

Chilled reds. Vinden Gamay out of the Hunter - wild fermented, hand plunged, eight months on old oak, made to be drunk cold. $40 in the shop, $80 at the bar.
See Saw Gamay from Orange - raspberry, sour cherry, a bit of spice at the end - $25 shop, $55 a bottle or $12 a glass at the bar. See Saw Marge, a cloudy skin-contact Gamay Pinot Noir, same prices.
And the See Saw Gee Gee, a skin-contact Pinot Gris and Gewürztraminer - not a red, but it wants the fridge too - $25 shop, $55 bar.

Melbourne Cup is Tuesday 3 November. Two weeks from today.
If the office is doing a long lunch, do it in a room with a screen - Tiki Huts, Garden Wall Courtyard or the Mezzanine. Theres’s no room hire, no deposits, the kitchen does grazing boards through to a sit-down feed, and the Bora Bar’s open for the sweep.

The number gets called between 6.30 and 7.30 and you have to be standing in the room when it is. Meat trays at 6, 7 and 8.

Any pasta on the menu with a glass of pinot, $30, and the Dart Comp going on the board next to you. Nobody’s aim has ever improved after the pinot. Plenty have claimed otherwise.

Sunday Sessions, from 2pm. $16 cocktails off the spritz menu, $10 Young Henrys pints, and the roast chicken out of the kitchen if you’re making a lunch of it. Live music every Sunday from here through summer, so if you miss this one there’s another coming.

Someone from Rosser Street walked out with $2,400 last Thursday. The badge is back to $500 and climbing.
Meat trays at 6, 7 and 8. Badge Draw called between 6.30 and 7.30. School's back, so the kids eat free, and a burger and a b**r is $20 for whoever's paying. Then the Rugby League World Cup opens with Australia v New Zealand at 8.05pm, live and loud.

Asahi 24 pack $65. Carlton Draught 24 pack $60. Corona 12 pack $30. Jervis Bay 4 packs - XPA, l***r or pale $19, the IPA $22. Ned's Bourbon 10 pack $56. Gravity Seltzer 4 packs in watermelon, lime or grapefruit, $18.
Then there's two new ones on the w**e wall.
Little Yering Shiraz - dark fruit, a bit of black pepper, and something at the end that tastes a lot like black forest cake. $20 in the shop, $50 at the bar. Silkman Sem Sav is the other direction entirely, floral and citrusy and made for the b**r garden. $25 shop, $55 bar.
Grab it on the way home Friday and you're set for both.

It’s a short week. Wednesday’s already here, and it comes with pasta.

To get to Mullens Street in Sydney, you can take the bus or train and get off at the Balmain ferry stop. From there, walk about five minutes west on Thames Street until you reach Mullens Street.
If driving, take Victoria Road heading west and turn left at Darling Street. Follow it for about a kilometer and then turn right onto Beattie Street. Turn left at Reynolds Street and then right onto Mullens Street.
Parking is available along the street, but may be limited during peak hours. Alternatively, there is a parking garage nearby at 2 Rowntree St, Birchgrove.
