Dutch Stroopwafels were invented in Gouda, the Netherlands in the early 1800
Once made from bakery scraps, they’re now a beloved Dutch treat worldwide.

“What’s a stroopwafel?”
A stroopwafel is a waffle made from two thin layers of baked dough with a caramel syrup filling in the middle. It hardens when it cools down and is more like a biscuit. You can get them warm and fresh during the market, traditional made, online and for business orders.

May 4 is the Dodenherdenking (Remembrance of the Dead) in the Netherlands. Today we remember those who have lost their lives in war.

The graves of Australian soldiers who died in the Netherlands during World War II are still cared for by the Dutch. The tradition of 'adopting' the graves of foreign soldiers is now becoming a family tradition in some Dutch families.

Next weekend we will be kicking off the Koningsdag celebrations with a Family Games Night at the Club from 6pm on Friday 24 April. On Sunday we will be painting the town Orange from 12pm to 4pm. Come along and enjoy the games, music, food, arts & crafts. Dress up and be in the running to win some great prizes.

On May 9th we are hosting a Dutch High Tea to celebrate Mother’s Day. We will offer a delightful twist on the traditional High Tea experience, featuring an array of delectable treats showcasing the best of Dutch cuisine.

The committee met over this past week and have decided to extend the Club opening hours. We will be open 10am - 4pm. The kitchen will be open from 12pm - 3:30pm.
