Hi Everyone,
Those of you who are familiar with me, know very well that I’m not out here posting random stuff.
More over, I’ve always believed that we all have our share of sh*t to deal with and I’m convinced that the great majority of you had, at some point in their life, faced some nasty situation, without having to call on help from anyone.
So if you find yourself tagged in this post it’s because we’ve either worked together or we somehow know each other through our great industry that is Hospitality.
I’m reaching out here to all chefs, patrons, waiters, bartenders, owners and other personality who I think could feel concerned by this story.
Please share this as much as you can, and if you can spare a few bucks on the gofundme page here, it might help my friends to get some feeble feeling of trust in human nature again, and if not, at least it will help them pay the bills and costs that are still mounting.
Today I’m here to share the story of one of my dearest and oldest mates, Mark.
I’ve know the man for over 15 years and him and I have worked countless kitchen shifts together.
He called me two days ago to tell me about something that happened to him just a couple of days before.
I’d like to share a condensed and much lighter version of the facts for reasons I will explain further.
But I believe that this story deserves to be told and shared as much as possible as it can help him and his partner get over the horrific s**t they just went through. If not emotionally, at least financially.
In the past year, he and his partner B took over a local pub in the town of Hartwell, England.
Together, they spent 6+ months to completely renovate and transform the historic building into a vibrant gastro-pub. Putting everything they had financially and emotionally into the restoration. Following a life long dream to open the doors of their very own business.
Their reputation grew quickly and the amazing reviews they received were growing in positivity each one better than the last.
Last Friday night two individuals decided to launch a sustained and sinister attack upon my friends, their business and their home.
After smashing multiple windows and doors they gained access intent on injuring my friends and decimating their business and home.
The details of the attack are truly nasty resulting in financial, emotional and physical ruin. But as this is an active police investigation I was asked not to share them until both of the scumbags, who have been charged with multiple serious crimes, are behind bars.. So I'll hold my tongue.
The fact to retain is that their life long dream and years of hard work and dedication to the industry they love was destroyed by two disgusting individuals in just 20minutes!
Mark and B both sustained physical injuries, and of course, deep emotional trauma.
I will just finish that story by saying that Mark and B can no longer to live in the flat above the pub, as they fear for their own safety following vile threats made by the men whilst being neutralized by the police officers !
They do not believe they will reopen the place, as the assaillants apparently are part of a network of similar human scum, and it would be putting their own life in danger to attempt to reopen the business.
I’m gonna wrap this by asking the help from some great names of our trade from Oz and the UK
