Archie, our little slam poet, wrote this all by himself and performed it at his primary school recently to a rousing reception.
We've been contemplating whether to share it here, and decided it was too good not to.
We are so very proud of him.
Onwards and upwards to the next generation, who are not curuptable, like our politicians...

This morning's result was bitter sweet. Congratulations to both Australia and Egypt for making us proud.
Mohamed Salah, well done for showing your champion qualities when paying respect to the Aussie team before celebrating with your own team. And Head Coach, Hossam Hassan, you're a bloody legend for dedicating the victory to both the people of Egypt and of Palestine.
For so long, being an Aussie Egyptian observing from afar, Egypt's inaction with regards to Palestine has been disheartening. But it's not because of the people, it's because of the ineptitude (AKA being bought out) by the likes of el-Sisi, Starmer, Biden, Trump, Albo.....
Head coach Hossam showed that people are powerful and leaders are weak!
Be a legend like Hossam 💪🍉

Go the Pharooz!!!
The Egyptian diaspora are ‘addicted to football’ and will be in full voice when the Pharaohs take on the Socceroos. For some it’s a ‘win-win situation’

"A pro-Israel activist breached parts of a legal settlement with Sydney restaurant Cairo Takeaway when Ofir Birenbaum and his lawyer released “highly misleading and even deceptive” statements that implied they had won, a court has ruled."
We are so very happy with today’s judgment and pleased that we can now put this matter behind us. Thank you all for your support.

Hi All,
We are super excited to be rolling out a big TV in our tiny venue to watch the World Cup Football match between Egypt and Iran tomorrow at Cairo Takeaway.
We'd love for you all to come along to watch the match with us.
Our dear friend and the very talented Isadora will be helping us host the event. She's a gem, check out her Instagram account and her soulful Egypt sounds.
Egypt v Iran, 12:30pm Saturday 27 June
The restaurant will be open as per usual.
Congratulations to the Australian football side for progressing to the next round
One last thing, we are Egyptian by blood here at Cairo Takeaway but we have a soft spot for Iran and are proud of that nation for standing up to bullies were so many have not. 🇪🇬🇹🇯🍉

As we begin school our holidays, our thoughts go out to the hundreds of Iranian school girls that were illegally murdered by the two rouge nations that started this current war.
And although there are lots of negative vibrations going on around the world, here's hoping we can muster up some positive energy with our families over the break.
Cairo Takeaway will be open all Easter long weekend.

On 11 February 2025, Jewish man, Ofir Birenbaum, who was wearing a Star of David cap and pendant, and representatives from the Daily Telegraph newspaper, entered the Cairo Takeaway in Newtown, resulting in an incident with Cairo Takeaway staff.
All parties are pleased that the legal disputes arising from this incident have now been resolved on confidential terms.
Cairo Takeaway accepts that Mr. Birenbaum was polite to staff when he entered the premises and purchased a drink, and they unreservedly apologise to him for the false and defamatory statements to the media, Instagram posts and comments by members of the public directed at Mr. Birenbaum on its social media accounts.
The Daily Telegraph acknowledges that entering the Cairo Takeaway without notice, to see if Mr. Birenbaum would be treated differently for the purpose of a news article, caused distress to the staff and owner of the Cairo Takeaway. The Daily Telegraph unreservedly apologises to Cairo Takeaway and their staff for causing that distress.
All parties are pleased that these issues have now been resolved in a constructive and satisfactory manner. In doing so, they acknowledge that all Australians should be able to safely express their racial or religious affiliation as well as debate issues in a respectful and dignified fashion. The parties hope that the fact of a resolution can be a positive example for others.
