Hello lovers,

Rolling Penny was a huge part of my life, and what we built together in this space will always mean the world to me.

After a year away (and a little time to miss it), I’ve taken back over 583A King Street — yes, again — and I’m officially back.

What comes next is Nest.
Same heart, same obsession with figuring out what the Sydney food scene didn’t ask for but hopefully needs — and, most importantly, good fu***ng times — just turned slightly on its head.
Think food-driven nights, some slightly obscure but FUN adventurous menus (don’t worry, some day stuff is in the works too).

There’s so much more to come — and plenty to get excited about.
I’m personally VERY excited.

I’ve also got some off-site catering jobs in the works this month and next, so things might look a little busy for a minute — but I’ll keep everyone updated and share more as soon as I’m able.

Also side note I’ve been overwhelmed with everyone welcoming me back into the area and I’m sorry I’ve been very vague, i just want to make everything perfect. I’ll keep some updates coming via rolling penny but if your up for it give a follow as well!

Love you all,
Robin

Well… this one hurts.

After 10+ wild, beautiful, chaotic, debaucherous years, Rolling Penny is closing its doors. What started as a café somehow became a second home, for some literally in the stinking hot rooms upstairs, it was a safe place, a messy place, a place where people showed up exactly as they were (sometimes hungover, sometimes heartbroken, and sometimes peeking and sometimes coming down but, always loved).

We’ve watched first dates turn into families, survived pandemics, breakdowns, breakthroughs, break ups, and seen South King Street change over and over again. Through it all, this place lived because of the people inside it.

To our staff, past and present — you were Rolling Penny. The heart, the fire, the madness. Nothing existed without you.

To our regulars, locals, and once-a-year legends — you gave us purpose on the days we didn’t think we had it in us anymore.

The coffees, the rushes, the tears in the back room, the parties, the or**es, the tactical voms, the love, the chaos, it all stays with us forever. This place changed our lives. We hope it changed yours too.

Our last day of trade is 25 January 2026.

This is goodbye… but not the end. Something exciting is coming. 🪺

All our love,
❤️❤️❤️ Rolling Penny ❤️❤️❤️

P.S. DM us if you want to come say goodbye at our staff closing party.

Thank you everyone for gracing us this year and we'll see you all in the new year. RP Team
