Did you know... Warragamba Dam was opened on the 14th of October 1960, 64 years ago today!
When Warragamba Dam was completed, it was the world's tallest and largest domestic water supply dam built on stone foundations💧
A total of three million tonnes of concrete was used in building the dam and overhead cableways lifted 18 tonne buckets (pictured) to place the concrete 🏗️
Ice and chilled water was used for the first time in Australian construction to cool and strengthen the concrete, with a purpose-built ice making plant built on site 🧊
Enjoy a Warragamba Slammer or two today in honour of this Sydney icon!🚰
